Something made me remember the other day about the nighttime radio program on WLW radio in Cincinatti which had evolved, by the time I was a kid, into a music-in-the-night kind of show (light classics, lush strings, etc.) that was preceded each evening at 11 p.m. by a reading of a poem... I went to Google and typed in those first few words that I remembered so well, "Moon River, a lazy stream of dreams..." and the top hit on the list was this very informative page.

One the most exotic memories of my early youth was going to a photo booth at the Penny Arcade in New Orleans, and I remember also some years later taking a set of snaps in the photo booth up in the Empire State Building observatory floor, the first time I ever was in New York City, when I was 18 years old. All this came back to me as I surfed the Photo Booth Image Archive.

I'm busy rounding up witnesses to the fact that as the NFL season began, I declared myself a Ravens fan; this would include my nephew in metro D.C., who himself keeps a fair share of interest in the Ravens despite having access to Redskins tickets. Even though the score was one-sided, I enjoyed this Superbowl more than most of the last several years... although I did find the commercials, Budweiser aside, not up to Super Sunday standards. And, oh yes, I did win lunch from my long-time football lunch betting buddy Jackie Lyle, who over the long haul, however, has had by far the better of it.
