| Barbie is running for president, and guess what! She's in favor of World Peace! And she can probably even name some of the countries!!! Which is more than we can say about some candidates, which we won't name, because Barbie would only run on a positive campaign!!!!!!!! | ||||

| Minor league baseball players labor in obscurity, keeping their spirits up with the thought that they are only two steps away from the show. Frank Priegue spent a considerable bit of time photographing the twelve-team AA Northeastern League, and has assembled a generous selection of well-annotated photos for this site. This is one of my favorites. | ||||

| It was not Katie Couric that told me that my individual risk for colon cancer was low, but rather the Harvard-based Your Cancer Risk site, with its survey of my life and habits. There are four online interviews avaialable. I didn't try the one about prostate cancer. Yet. | ||||

Susan and I have taken to giving out numbered door prizes when we have a nice sized group of people over, as we did for last evening's Easter gathering. They seem to like it. | |||

| Last night, in my dream, I was at some kind
of benefit event and had just bought five chances at a chicken dinner for two dollars apiece, and asked an
accountant friend to borrow his pen to write down my numbers for the drawing. "James, if you wanted a chicken dinner, you could have gotten one for a lot less than ten dollars," he said, nevertheless handing me the pen. He was an accountant in the dream, and is an accountant in real life, too. "I didn't buy a chicken dinner," I replied. "If I win, the chicken dinner will be a bonus. What I bought for ten dollars was the thrill of the chance." This was all in the dream. |

| Should I be relieved? It seems that, even though those of us who live along the Gulf coast are in for a series of dreadful pummelings from hurricanes over the next few years, the destructive cycle that's coming round is not, in fact, related to global warming. I'm plenty scared, but at least I don't have to feel guilty! |
