My friend Raleigh sent me this link to What A Character!, a wonderful collection of info about those folks in movie and TV that don't have top billing and instant name recognition, but without whom there wouldn't be much of a cast. Best thing is that you can browse through mug shots and see faces you recognize, and then click to learn where you've seen them... and where else you might. Also otherwise indexed.

Susan and I went yesterday to see Moulin Rouge. It was innovative, original, different... but, on the other hand, we were not transported; we were, I think, too aware that the film-makers had created something innovative, original and different. I'm glad they did it, and hope this inspires more producers to tinker with doing bold new things. But to say, oh, you've got to see this... you're on your own.

Actually, though I acknowledge the logistical issues, I can only see this as a very good thing... and I'm tempted to think that the crowds might overlap a little more than is being predicted here.

The Bayou Teche flows through downtown New Iberia about a third of a mile from our house. There is currently a family of ducks in that stretch of the bayou, seen this morning feeding amongst the aquatic plants near the bank.

When I posted a few pictures from Sarah Trillin's wedding last June, I captioned a photo "Mr. 8-8-8?" because it depicted Sarah's sister Abigail with a boyfriend who showed every sign of being the bridegroom who would fulfill Abigail's dream of having a dim sum wedding reception at Chinatown's 8-8-8. We were right! Yesterday was wedding day, and though the dim sum reception did come true, it turned out that it was held at a place called The Nice Restaurant; thereby making Brian Lee "Mr. Nice." And that ain't even the half of it!
